November FTX - Level One and Two
Cadets will meet at the squadron headquarters (parking lot) no later than 1830hrs (6:30pm) on Friday November 20, 2009. You must hand in your health card to the officer at the bus who will keep it safe for the duration of the exercise. Consider this your boarding pass. You will not be allowed to attend the exercise without it. A photocopy is not sufficient in accordance with our directive from DND and the Air Cadet League of Canada. All parent/guardian(s) must stay with their cadet until the officer has dismissed them. This is to ensure that the cadet has not forgotten anything, etc. We will be arriving back at the squadron headquarters on Sunday November 22, 2009 at approximately 1530hrs (3:30pm). If that time changes significantly, a phone will be provided to the cadet to phone home to advise. In case of absolute emergency, the phone number for the camp is located on the permission slip. This number goes to camp staff and not squadron staff, so please use only in the case of an emergency. If your cadet is sick or needs to phone home, a phone will be provided to them. No cell phones, mp3 players, cameras, etc. are permitted on this exercise as per the permission slip. If the item is found, it will be confiscated until the end of the exercise. You do not need to provide any food or snacks as all food and snacks will be provided. Please pack a reusable water bottle or canteen as one will NOT be provided. There is drinking water available to fill the canteens throughout the day. We will be sleeping indoors but it does get chilly at night. Please ensure you have packed a warm sleeping bag or bedding and a small (single-sized) air mattress or foam sleeping pad (bed roll) as you will be sleeping on the floor. All activities during the day take place outdoors so be sure to pack winter clothing as last year on this weekend we had 2 feet of snow already up North!

If there are any questions from now until Friday, please contact your flight commander or section commander. If you cannot reach them, please use the Contact Us section of the website. If you email through the website, please note that you will not receive a response after Thursday evening as the webmaster will already be at the camp setting up on Friday morning. You will also not receive a response if you call the squadron during the week as the office is not staffed during the week. Use your chain of command to get your questions answered.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all on Friday!

Drill Team
Congratulations to F/Sgt Oliveira, F/Sgt Williams and F/Cpl Amoah as all 3 have been selected to fulfill the role of Drill Team Commander. The 3 will be responsible for working together to form the leadership component of the team and train the team for competition and for our Annual Ceremonial Review. F/Cpl Amoah will fulfill the role of drill team commander at competition with his amazing drill voice, but all 3 will be credited equally with commanding the team overall.

We will be practicing at Greenbriar Recreation Centre (map) on Wednesday, November 18, 25, and December 2. We will then break off until after the Winter Holidays. Our practice day will then change to Tuesday's at Balmoral Public School alternating weeks with the Band. More information will come later.

Band
If you play an instrument and are interested in joining the band, please see CI Haye or Sgt Izirien for more details. We are always looking for new members and are eager to go to the Band Competition, so let us know!

OPC White/Blue Lottery Tickets!
These tickets are due back on November 23, 2009. That gives you less than one week to get them sold and returned to the Sponsoring Committee. This money goes to support the flying program among other activities, so it's important that we all step in to help in fundraising.

Volunteer Hours for High School
Don't forget that if you attended any of the poppy campaign days at Bramalea City Centre, Ms. Melvina Alderson from the Legion Branch 609 will be at the squadron on December 2, 2009 to sign your volunteer hour sheets. She will not be hunting you down, so if you want them signed, be sure to find her on the 2nd. If you miss her, you will need to make an appointment to see the CO to get your sheet signed.
