Update on training for Monday, May 30, 2016
As most of you have no doubt heard by now, Victoria Park Arena has suffered a fairly major fire this past weekend. Due to that fact, the practice and preparation for our Annual Ceremonial Review on Saturday, June 18, 2016 will be impacted. Our actual Review will also be impacted. We do not yet have details on where we will parade after this evening but will know very soon and will communicate that with you as soon as the details are finalized.
We WILL have training at LHQ tonight! Cadets are asked to be prepared to be outdoors (water bottles, sunblock, the outer shell of their parka if it’s cold, etc.). We have access to the Lion’s Hall as well.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We will communicate further details as they become available.

Cadets will meet at LHQ at 1800 hrs (6:00 pm) with full kit based on the kit list, health card and be prepared for kit inspection. Parents are asked to stay until their cadet has been inspected in case the cadet is missing something. Cadets shall enter through the rear door of the squadron and exit through the front. Health cards will be collected and kept safe by squadron staff for the duration of the exercise. All other details are available on the permission form posted in an earlier post. It is imperative that cadets have proper rain gear that repels water as it will very likely rain. A windbreaker or sweater is not rain gear.
If you still wish to attend but did not hand in a permission form, we have a few spots that have opened up. Please bring the permission form to meet the bus.
See you soon!
Victoria Day Holiday
There is no cadet training on Monday. Regularly scheduled team practices (band, drill) will still happen on their regular days.
FTX reminder will follow in separate post early next week. Be sure to pay careful attention to the kit list, especially when it comes to bringing proper rain gear (must actually repel water – windbreakers are not sufficient rain gear!) and a warm sleeping bag with sleeping pad. Even if the weather is nice during the day, it still gets quite cool overnight so be prepared!
Enjoy the week off!
Marksmanship day will move forward, rain or shine!
Just a reminder to all cadets to be at LHQ, with everything on the kit list, by 0700hrs tomorrow morning. It is very important to bring proper rain gear as the weather in Blackdown can be unpredictable. Cadets are also required to bring their health cards!!! No health card means you don’t go. Please ensure you review the permission slip below for all timings, etc. If you did not get a chance to submit a permission form, but would still like to go, please bring the signed form with you to meet the bus.
I am so proud and humbled by all of our wonderful cadets at 758. They raised over $500.00 on Monday evening by donating their spare change (and then some!).
All money raised will be forwarded to the Canadian Red Cross on behalf of 758 Argus Squadron to be put towards the relief efforts. Thank you so much for your quick response to our call to action and for your kind generosity!

We will be conducting a marksmanship and fun day at Blackdown Cadet Training Centre this Saturday, March 14, 2016.
Times and all information are located on the permission form. If you were not able to hand in the form on Monday, March 9, 2016, then please bring signed when you meet the bus on Saturday morning.
Cadets are invited to wear civilian clothing for Monday’s parade (May 9) if they bring a small donation of $2.00 (or more) that will be collected and sent to Canadian Red Cross in support of the relief efforts in response to the devastating wildfires occurring in Fort McMurray, Alberta right now.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced and many have lost their homes. As an organization that promotes good citizenship and community involvement, we want to get involved and provide whatever support we can. Donations of $2.00 or more will gladly be accepted and forwarded to the Canadian Red Cross on behalf of 758 Argus Squadron. The Squadron Sponsoring Committee will be on hand to collect the donations at opening parade.
Thank you in advance for your support!
How we can help…
As I’m sure you are all aware by now, the town of Fort McMurray, Alberta, home to approximately 90,000 people, has been forced to evacuate due to devastating wildfires. One of the aims of the cadet program is to promote good citizenship and volunteerism. There are ways that we can help those in need. I encourage every cadet to get involved in whatever way they can. Maclean’s has some suggestions you may wish to consider.
If you have been watching the news at all in the past few days, you have seen images of the fires and videos of people telling their stories. Some of you may even have family or friends who live there. Should any cadets want to formally put together a relief effort on behalf of 758 (i.e., collecting donations), please let me know and I would be happy to assist in formulating a plan. For now, I encourage you to get together with your families and discuss if there is a way you could help in that capacity.

Due to the high probability of inclement weather, we are cancelling sports day tomorrow. We will re-book the rock climbing wall at a later date (probably the fall).
