Weekly Announcements

For Monday, February 1, 2016

CO’s Parade – There are a number of cadets who have been working very diligently on maintaining their uniforms and boots and it is wonderful to see! Please ensure to share any tips and tricks you may have with your section and flight members!

Commanding Officer’s Boot Challenge! – repost from previous announcement

Major Clark has issued a boot challenge to all cadets! She borrowed a brand new pair of boots, never been polished, from supply before the holidays and is challenging all cadets to see if their boots can be shinier than hers! Cadets must only use black shoe polish, kiwi cloth, spit or water. Nothing else! The winner (if there is one) will be determined by a panel of judges on the CO’s parade in February. If there is a winner, they will earn a $20.00 Tim Horton’s gift card!

Lost or Stolen Items:

Any personal items found after parade nights and optional training nights will be placed in the Lost and Found box (regularly located at the LHQ downstairs) for cadets to claim the next time they are in. If any uniform parts are found, they will be returned to Supply and cadets must make an appointment with supply to claim.

Cadets are reminded not to bring items of significant value (large sums of money, electronics, etc.). Should they choose to do so, the squadron is not responsible for lost or stolen items. If a cadet brings a cell phone, the ringer must be off and on their person at all times. They are not permitted to text or call during class time. Some cadets have been granted permission to use as a method to take notes, etc. but this must be arranged through your level officer.

Attendance Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that that all absences must be accounted for. If you cannot make it in to cadets due to illness or other reasons, please use the Contact Us page and send us an email with your full name, flight number, and reason for absence or phone the squadron at 905-793-7992 and leave a message with the same information BEFORE the parade night begins! Parents, if possible, please allow your cadet to write this email or call in to the squadron on their own as we would like them to be accountable for their own attendance.

If your attendance falls below 60% for the training year, regardless of whether you emailed or called in, there is a great chance that you will not be able to successfully complete your level and will require re-assessment and/or repetition of the same level the following training year. This will negatively impact promotions as well so it is really important to manage your time effectively and make it to parade nights.
